Brief: The Credit Card Act of 2009 required companies to allow their customers a grace period of 21 days to pay off their debt, free of interest. However, failure to pay off the balance within the allocated time would result in significant amounts of additional interest on the entire balance.

Chase Bank designed a new system called Blueprint in order to manage balances and lower the interest on total payments. It allowed for a balance on some purchases while still receiving an interest-free grace period on others.

We started with the overall strategy of customer introduction then naming, identity design, iconography and finally a basic visual system for print and digital applications.

The idea behind using a web style button to highlight the "u" was: It's as simple as "you" pushing a button. The button would also easily extend to a nomenclature system used for the different segments of the Blueprint program ranging from print to digital applications.
