LA Galaxy

Brief: The LA Galaxy is one of the ten founding teams in Major League Soccer (MLS). The name "Galaxy" was refers to Los Angeles being home to LA celebrity, "stars" of Hollywood.

In 2007, Adidas and the LA Galaxy approached us with the first re-brand project of the franchise, timed with the signing of international soccer star, David Beckham. “We wanted a classic and clean look that would stand the test of time, something that generations of players and fans would wear with pride on and off the field,” said Los Angeles Galaxy President and General Manager Alexi Lalas.

We began our rebrand with an updated primary and secondary mark, new typeface, and color palette. The blue embodies the ocean and sky, a homage to the team's Pacific coast location. The secondary palette of gold contrasts with the blue and gives the presence of Hollywood glitz and glimmer.

The new Quasar shield supplants the team’s former Cyclone which was more or less an overhead picture of a galaxy. The new mark is modern and contemporary while retaining an air of bespoke heraldry.
